How a dispute is resolved

A team member reads both sides, decides a split and it's executed on the blockchain.

The process

  1. 1With the dispute open, the money stays held in escrow: it isn't released to the seller and doesn't come back to you until there's a resolution. No one — not even Bernuvia — can move it anywhere else.
  2. 2Add everything that helps in your case's thread in the Dispute center: nothing uploaded is deleted or edited.
  3. 3A team member reviews the template, your evidence and the history, and decides a concrete split in writing: how much comes back to you and how much (minus fees) goes to the seller.
  4. 4The split is executed on the blockchain with a public transaction. You'll see the resolution message in your thread, and both you and the seller are notified via the bell and by email.

The three possible outcomes

  • You get everything back — the full amount returns to your balance; you can withdraw it whenever you like. The download for that template is revoked.
  • It's split — part comes back to you and the rest (minus fees) goes to the seller.
  • It's released to the seller — the team found the delivery matches what was promised.

For purchases of 500 USDC or more, double review applies: two different administrators must approve exactly the same split before it's executed. Resolution time depends on the case and how complete the evidence is — that's why it pays to attach clear evidence from the start. The whole process is also explained in the public Dispute center.
