How templates are ordered
What makes it into the catalogue, which signals decide each template's position, what every sort option does, and why paid placement does not exist.
Which templates make it into the catalogue
Before anything is ordered, something has to decide what gets listed. The catalogue, the search and the related templates only show the ones that meet the four conditions below. The rest are not in some low position: they are not there at all.
- Active. Its author keeps it visible. They can switch it off and on whenever they want.
- Approved. It passed the platform review. While it is under review it is not listed.
- Membership up to date. If the seller's membership stops being active, their templates are frozen and leave the catalogue until it is active again.
- Not withdrawn. Withdrawing a template takes it out of the catalogue for good; its buyers keep their download.
If you cannot find your template in the catalogue, it is almost always one of those four things, and all four are visible in My templates.
The signals that move a position
Among what is listed, the position comes from signals about the template itself. These are the ones that count. They are in no order of importance and we deliberately do not publish how much each one weighs: what you can know, and what is useful to you, is which ones are looked at.
- What you searched for. How well what you typed matches the template's name, its one-line pitch and its stack.
- Sales. How many purchases it has. It is the hardest signal to fake, because each one is a real payment held in escrow.
- Rating. The average of its reviews. Only buyers who paid for the template can write them.
- Recency. Its publication date, so new arrivals get a place and the catalogue does not freeze around the usual names.
- Interest. The visits to its page, which is what decides the top of the home page.
What is not a position signal: the price (unless you ask to sort by price), the template state (complete, working MVP or in progress), its category, its platform and its languages. All of that is there for you to filter and decide, not to climb the list.
The sort options you can choose
The Sort dropdown overrides everything else: you pick the criterion and the whole list rearranges. It is the same one on the home page, in Explore and in your favourites.
| Sort | What goes first |
|---|---|
| Best sellers | The ones with most purchases. It is how the catalogue opens. |
| Best match | Whatever matches what you typed best. With no search there is nothing to compare, so the best sellers lead. |
| Newest | The most recently published ones. |
| Top rated | The ones with the highest review average. |
| Trending | Sales and rating together, with a push for what was published recently. |
| Price: low to high / high to low | The price, in the direction you choose. No other signal takes part. |
When you type in the search box
Search does two different things and they are worth keeping apart: first it discards, then it orders.
- It discards every template that does not mention what you typed in its name, its one-line pitch or its stack.
- It orders what is left. With «Best match», a name that starts with what you searched for matches better than one that merely contains it, and the stack counts for less than the name.
- If you change the sort, what you typed still discards, but it stops deciding the position.
Searching is not filtering. Category and platform are separate filters and they add to the search: if nothing shows up, the first thing to check is whether a filter is still set from before.
The home page and the related templates
There are two places where you do not choose the order.
- The home page opens by real interest: the most viewed template leads, and sales break the ties.
- The related templates on a page come from its own category and go through the same four catalogue conditions.
There is no paid placement
This is the most important part of this page: on Bernuvia a position cannot be bought.
- No advertising and no featured slots are sold. There is no checkbox, no plan and no fee that lifts a template up the list.
- The seller membership does not buy position. It gives the right to have templates published, and nothing else.
- The commission is the same for everyone (3.8%), so paying more does not place you better.
If you see a position that none of the above explains, tell us through the contact form: that would be a bug, not a price list.
